There are many cars out that can accept a variety of custom modifications. Some of these modification are simply cosmetic while others can be full overhauls of the mechanics. Depending on the type of vehicle different specialized custom parts will be able to be added. Typically parts from one vehicle are not easily transferred over to another vehicle unless they share a similar engine or other components. This is true of vehicles from companies such as Acura and Honda who share similar power plants through different vehicle lines. Customer parts can also be used, generally speaking, for different models made by the same manufacturer. Again in these cases they will have to share a similar design that can be taken advantage of. Most of these custom parts are created by third parties that are not always approved by the original manufacturer. Lately though as custom parts have become more popular more and more manufacturers are not only allowing custom parts but manufacturing them in house. The most popular cosmetic customization for any vehicle is a custom paint job. There are many places that specialize in just doing this. You can get just about anything done to the exterior of your vehicle as far as color goes and custom paint jobs have come a long way. A custom paint job can turn your car into a driving work of art. Some people choose to not go all out and get a custom touch up just to accentuate or add some color to their vehicle. Often times getting a custom paint job will not effect your warranty in any way shape or form. You can also add custom decals with the paint job as well to really make your vehicle your own. Window tinting is also another cosmetic custom option that you can add onto a vehicle. For most states there is a certain amount of tint that is legal to have. Check the local laws to make sure that you are within your legal limits.

The next common options to have done after custom paint and tinting are ground effects and spoilers. These are more performance options than cosmetic. If you are planning to improve the performance of your vehicle you may actually need to get something like this. A spoiler can add a significant amount of down force at speed. This will dramatically effect the performance of your vehicle especially if you are adding a significant amount of power. Ground effects have a similar function as they can improve the overall wind resistance of your vehicle. By doing so it becomes not only more stable at high speed but more fuel efficient as well.

If you are really looking to customize your vehicle though your are going to have to go under the hood and make some upgrades. The first place that most people will look is the cold air intake. The reason is that this is an easy and inexpensive custom option that can be done on most vehicles. The custom car parts for a cold air intake are readily available and not too expensive. They also are fairly easy to install so most people will look to do this option first. The performance increase you can get from a custom cold air intake is pretty significant. The way your engine works is that it takes in air, mixes it with the fuel, then burns this to drive the pistons. A custom cold air intake allows the vehicle to take in more air which means it can burn more fuel faster thus generating more horsepower for greater performance.

The next most common customer mechanical upgrade is the muffler. A custom muffler is another part that is easy to get and also easy to install. Most will add quite a boost to power and when combined with a cold air intake will improve the overall airflow of your vehicle significantly. This means a lot more horsepower and a lot better performance. The only downside to doing this is that your fuel economy will more than likely go down and the overall noise level of your car will go up. Each of these customizations is easy added and removed so if you are into tinkering you can put them on and take them off as you need. If you do decide to increase the horsepower on your vehicle your are going to need to improve some other systems as well.

The first order is to make the car as stable on the road as possible so that it can handle the additional power. First place to look here is custom tires. Larger size and wider is always going to give you more grip on the road. After the tires the shocks will be needed to be upgraded to handle the additional forces. You are also going to want to get a reinforced sway bar to handle the different G forces that you will experience in the turns. Once these have been addressed you now need to look at how your are going to stop your speed demon. Adding high quality calipers and brake pads is in order. These come in a lot of custom colors that can really make your vehicle pop.

By adding all of these different options you will have a completely different car. The other great thing about this customizations is that they do not all need to be done at once. You can add them in one at a time as you go along slowly switching your car over. The best way to do this is to have a final plan in mind and come up with a path to get there.
